billlunney Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Hello, I have a new Prosys 40 panel with a wireless smoke detector. The keypad is displaying 'KEYPAD DISABLED'. This was displayed after I mistakenly entered the user code to disable an alarm caused by pressing the smoke detector test button. I did this a number of times which triggered the condition. The panel has been in this state for approx. 12 hours now so it's showing no signs of re-enabling the keypad automatically. Can anyone advise me on how to clear this? Also as a general point, am I missing something re. the usability aspect of the unit or is my view that having to disable this particular alarm condition requires digging the manual out, and entering a special sequence before enterting the user code. As someone involved in interface design my assumption would be to walk up to the panel, enter the user code and alarm condition clears (and the siren shuts up!). Thoughts?
magpye Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Morning, not trying to be picky but what is the Keypad showing, 'Keypad Locked' or 'KEYPAD DISABLED'? Not knowing this panel the correct message will help a lot as the two don't mean the same thing. From what you wrote it sounds as though you have some how programmed out the Keypad with all your key presses, do you have the Engineers code, if you have and you were using that at during your problem .............? Too many key presses = programing changes = problem I would suggest that if this is the case the installing company is the way to go - good luck Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.

Thoughts? yep your missing something you got more than one keypad ? its a call we get often where the user turns of the alert at one keypad then tries to reset it at the second - also check youve got the correct authority for the code your using - might need a minumum of a main user if its G2 angus
