john24susan Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 HI all , I am new to this forum and am looking for some help and information on the Accenta 6 alarm system as i have no instuction manual for this system. My system works fine but I have recived a letter from the electricity board and they are coming to fit a new meter next week and will switch off the power to fit a new meter, in past any time the power has been switched off my alarm sounds and do not know how to mute and reset the system. Can any one help to give me clear instructions in how to disconnect and reset the system or mute the system. Many thanks. john.hynd1@virgin.net

amateurandy Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 My system works fine Hi there, unfortunately that statement is incorrect. Your system is designed to (and should continue to) work properly through a power cut of several hours (I know, I've got one and it does). So it has a fault of some sort. As as already been said this may well be due to the internal battery having failed. Replacing this involves opening up the panel which has live mains inside; only do that if you are competent to do so. However that manufacturers models have a reputation for damage due to flat batteries so there may be other problems. If in doubt get a local engineer in to give the system a full check.

Many thanks. john.hynd1@virgin.net open up the Accenta, look at the battery and take some notes. go buy a new one from maplins probably. swap new for old. if that was the problem, now sorted. if it was not the problem you now have something to throw at the noisy box outside. try not to kill yourself while doing anything.

tinnitus Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 you`ll need to dispose of the old battery correctly - no dropping it in the bottom of your wheelie bin thats true. or flinging them in bushes either
alterEGO Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 you`ll need to dispose of the old battery correctly - no dropping it in the bottom of your wheelie bin lol, i'm sure you work for environmental health but i do agree.
Guest anguscanplay Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 lol, i'm sure you work for environmental health but i do agree. well i could have posted how it needs an engineer , dangerous mains , re boots and lock outs but on past experiance that doesnt make a blind difference , maybe having to take the old unit to the council dump might
