Marcus Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Marcus,The test function will not overide the panel dialling out. You need the engineering code and if connected to a monitoring centre another 2 codes if you are connected but it seems you do not even know who the panel calls at all. Imo you should have a user guide, all records of fitting e.g handover checklist etc and most importantly an alarm company that will maintain the unit. I do not understand that you do not have a list of whome the alarm contacts directly!! When the meeting hall was built last year, the building team didn't leave any equipment manuals for anything. Not the Air-Con (though we do have a maintence contract with air-con installers), the Gas Central Heating, the P.A. system, alarm system, anything I have had to use the internet, to track down & download manuals for most of the above equipment. The alarm system doesn't have any contact details on the alarm box, which complicates matters. I do know the two local people that system does ring, but I don't know if that is the full list or not. Any way, it looks like we will have to just imagine the fire alarm, during the evacuation practice tonight, and I will have do alot of ringing around at the weekend, to get a proper picture of the setup. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately there is no labels on the alarm panel (the BIG PANEL), but I will have a look at the bell box outside to see if there is any thing there. It sounds like from you comment about speech dialler, that it probably doesn't call police direct, so it should be OK to unplug the alarm box from the phone socket, for the duration of the practice. Thanks for your help. Marcus

alterEGO Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 No, its a 2-line LCD display.Like below: yes that will be the rkp, but what plugsinto the phone socket, the control panel? if so you have a 595 not 800.
Guest anguscanplay Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 marcus - all the manuals will be in the health and safety site file ( nothing sinister it`s just where they end up ) bigger issue is the smoke detectors will make a different noise when they activate to the noise made by a bell test so lto repeat the answer you got last night - NO IT WONT WORK and like amateur says this should all be sorted out , written down etc for you to see
camerabloke Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 not hot on the regs but shouldnt a new building , for which people can gather ie church, meeting room etc, have a dedicated fire alarm by law? Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
Alarm Protection Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Has the installer used the vo comm for comms?? Just an idea. !
Marcus Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 not hot on the regs but shouldnt a new building , for which people can gather ie church, meeting room etc, have a dedicated fire alarm by law? It is a combined security & fire alarm set-up. all the manuals will be in the health and safety site file ( nothing sinister it`s just where they end up ) Maybe but they didn't hand over that site file. Any way, I was able to unplug the telephone line from the alarm system, and go into "Test System" , and manually switch the bell on, for the evacuation practice, and then reset everything to normal afterwards. I will try to track down the installer this weekend, so as to get proper details & documentation for the system. Thanks every one for you comments and help. Marcus
