It could be a 595 as the alarm control box (externally) looks similar. The problem is short of opening the alarm control box and looking inside, I am limited to "it externally looks like" & "keypad text display is similar to" comparisons. And as you can well appreciate, I am reluctant to actually opening the box, as there is a 100% likely-hood of there being an anti-tamper switch, which could get very upset, if I wave a screwdriver too close to it.
