Has the installer used the vo comm for comms?? Just an idea.

The phone cable comes out of the alarm control box (the BIG PANEL, as you described it earlier).

It could be a 595 as the alarm control box (externally) looks similar.

The problem is short of opening the alarm control box and looking inside, I am limited to "it externally looks like" & "keypad text display is similar to" comparisons.

And as you can well appreciate, I am reluctant to actually opening the box, as there is a 100% likely-hood of there being an anti-tamper switch, which could get very upset, if I wave a screwdriver too close to it. :)

your not going to find much either way by opening the box - the answer to your question is still the same namely no you cant use the test facility to imitate an evacuation - sorry
