Billy@Solutions4CCTV.com Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Hello Everyone I have beeen requested to provide some solutions for a new housing estate where a lot of lead flashing is being stolen from empty (being built) houses and even occupied property! I have obviously looked at Security Lighting First and CCTV too... but I was wondering if any of you had any advice to offer if you have been in a similar situation? The main area of theft is where a low level roof (gnd flr up to under first floor window) at the front of the property, where the offenders are clearly jumping on to the easily accessed area and then nicking the lead flashing from where the roof joins the house. Its not just the annoyance of the theft but also, in many cases, the damage to the roof and ridge tiles too. I thought about a photo electric beam but that poses install issues .... as well as the likelihood of unit theft anyway! Also Security lighting in the eaves which I think is favourite. I was thinking of having an external PIR and wiring it in to a zone on the alarm panel (may even get a few panel installs that way!) Does anyone know if ther are any PIRs on the market that will switch a security light on and operate an alarm panel too in a similar way to a normal internal sensor? I guess you are all gonna tell me no to be lazy and just install security lighting AND an external Alarm PIR !!!! (and maybe CCTV for good measure too!) Any feedback or advice (as well as supplier info) will be greatfully received and digested! Thanks Billy Solutions4CCTV Keeping an eye on your property
FASTCAR Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Plenty of Anti-vandal paint ?. It won't stop them..but neither will CCTV . I've seen a similar problem just today ( Mather Lane Bridge area?) ...I blame the scap metal merchants. Regards.

Anti Vandal / Climb paint is no use because the 'pent roof' is all tiled (nice red tiles too!) I had thought of that! I am thinking half starved pit bull trained to use a taser ! alterEGO Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Thanks for that... they seem to do the job... both Alarm and 240v switching... do you know any local to warrington, 'over the counter' suppliers? Thanks for your help their are many options, i do alot of site security during building work and before anyone has moved in, due to constant theft ect. now redwalls will be a little expensive for you, i would go with risco watchout Double DT's[or PIRS you choose]. they are an outdoor DT, 2x DT's in one and both have to see the same pattern to trigger. http://riscogroup.co.uk/Products.aspx?subcatid=63&id=20 we have used them on many sites, very good indeed, heres a write up of one of our jobs, bottom of the first page. http://www.rokonet.com/newsite/dynamicdata...ter%20Dec06.pdf
Guest anguscanplay Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Hang on - what do you want the sensors to do when the trigger ? activate the house alarm ? strewth hope not, if its anything else you might as well just use a GJD set up
Billy@Solutions4CCTV.com Posted October 3, 2007 Author Posted October 3, 2007 Hang on - what do you want the sensors to do when the trigger ? activate the house alarm ? strewth hope not, if its anything else you might as well just use a GJD set up Why not set the house alarm off??? If the sensor is set up correctly (remembering its on a roof) and if the line of sight is close the the premises which is where the lead flashing is... and if the alarm is ON (ie during daytime - no occupants or nightime... most likely theft time) then my mate (and Mr B Ball Bat wants to know about it!!!) Thanks for the reply too ! Billy Solutions4CCTV Keeping an eye on your property
