Guest mikep Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Have to connect a speech dialler(Menvier SD1) to an ISDN phone line, is it as straight forward as connecting to normal tel line or should I expect problems? thanks in advance mike
breff Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 You need a normal analogue line for an SD1, however I have been told that an ISDN 2e can be split into 2 normal lines. Unfortunately I dont know how to do that! The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Guest Adrian Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 B) I believe that most systems that are ISDN will normaly have an analouge(you know what I mean) point in the box where the cable comes in. If so you could run your phone cable from the dialer to this point. Failing that contact ACT meters as I think they are now doing an ISDN/ADSL filter that will enable you to conect up the sd1+ and digi coms to the high speed conection on the phone line. Adrian B)
Guest dale Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 BT Highway has two analogue circuits and two digital circuits, although not all of them can be used at once. The dialler will fit into one of the analogue extensions - DO NOT try sticking it before the ISDN box as its at a higher voltage than normal phone lines, and you will take ISDN out of service which then involves lots of pratting about with BT trying to get it back in service. If its ISDN 2e then there is no analogue lines, both circuits are digital, therefore you will either need an ISDN modem or an ISDN to analogue converter. Dale
Smart Electrics Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 I would like to point out that the above is correct but Red Care do provide a service over ISDN CCts i do beleive its cal;led ISDN connect. ISDNs carry 95vdc at 500ma so be carefull as this can grab you under some conditions I know from personall experiance yes it does burn!! Also there is the danger if yo muck around with the cct before the NTE9 you could blow the ISDN card in the exchange and as BT is charging for everything now you could foot the bill at about £500 or more. If you need any more advice then please get in contact
norman Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Also there is the danger if yo muck around with the cct before the NTE9 you could blow the ISDN card in the exchange and as BT is charging for everything now you could foot the bill at about £500 or more. only if they can prove it! Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Smart Electrics Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 LOL considering that my stats are affected by what we call TRC time related charges l would charge any way oops no if bt feels that it was a customer they will do there damdest to get it back.
