Companies will take you on as a trainee if they like what they see. i don't think 17 - 18 k is unreasonable to ask/offer for a starter. we have an ex army guy works for us and to be fair they (army) put him through his C&G. experience means more than qualifications in this game it seems, but that may change soon. i have worked for companies where i have been the only one with the relevant C&G's. if you want to start soon, get the yellow pages and phone book out and call round, trust me they will give you an interview if they are looking for people. I work for ABEL and we start guys with little experience and train them up, its hard to find good experienced engineers. look us up mate, worth a try. good luck.

Well worth a try, abel will take on anyone. i have often thought about sending a manakin to them for an interview, bet it would have a Connect and keys in its hand within the hour.

I would steer clear of nvq courses they are not really valued in the industry imo,but they may get you a foot in the door mate.

Stop putting yourself down. You have an Army qualification, so therefore it counts for something, anything you have can go on the CV if it may help. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional
