Guest tyles Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Help!! We have got an Accenta 8 control panel linked up to two Ventcroft Classic bell boxes. Everything has been ok for 7 years until now. One of the bell boxes has started making strange noises, when the alarm is set and also in day mode. It does not sound like the normal alarm sound, its more like a strangled cat. Can somebody please help?
norman Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Hi, get up and reterminate all the connections in the siren, replace the battery as well. If it continues after that a replacement may be on the cards. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Peter James Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Norm (or Steve ) is right it may also be the tamper switch's are corroded. If in doubt call somone out. Pete

Guest oldtimer Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Two points here 1. is it the standard Acenta or the Mini ? The reason I ask is the mini is designed to power 1 outside sounder only. 2. The unit that sounds like a strangled cat may have corrosion on the PCB. I had a simular problem with the same panel and a sentra sounder. The panel and sounder was ok and the fault was traced to the SB1 internal sounder. When the alarm was activated the sentra sounded like a strangled cat. The problem was cured by cutting ZD1 on the sentra.
