SRAPUBLIC Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Hi, I hope I'm in the right forum ! I am not a professional alarm installer. I have recently moved into a new house which has an Abacus 61/4 alarm previously under contract by the old owner with Chubb Alarms. I chose not to take over the Chubb contract. So now I have the system as a bells only. I think I want to remove the system because I have no control over it (other than setting and unsetting it) and because I want to decorate the place. Chubb, as you might expect, say the equipment is owned by the previous owner (I didn't continue the contract, so they appear uninterested in removing it). Presumably, if I start messing with it (say taking down the PIR's) it's going to start causing me trouble. What are my options, am I best getting a proffessional in to remove it ? Obviously, the only codes I have are the set/unset codes. Can I cut the power and wait for the backup battery to drain and then remove ? I intend to fit an alternative system, which I can control. Any guidance much appreciated. Thanks.

I would get a profesional installer to remove it, once you start taking covers off it gets noisy and if you are not used to working with alarms will cause you more trouble than it worth. Give a couple of local independent installers a ring to get an idea of cost. Trade Member
