alterEGO Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 nah its way bigger than that - device substitiution sticks in my mind, when were all IP it`ll be the norm yeah and that, but as my happy friend dave said how many sensors ect. have you seen graded as four?
Guest anguscanplay Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 "Grade Four: Probably 99 per cent of alarm companies will not get 'involved' in this type of system, just as very few BS 7042 systems were ever installed. Intruders may be terrorists or specialist jewel thieves or bank robbers, and manned guards who may often be in support will likely be made ineffective first" quote from the nice people at the NSI

Guest Dave the alarm man Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 yeah and that, but as my happy friend dave said how many sensors ect. have you seen graded as four? there is nowt @ G4 apart from ATS, and as far as I'm aware the standard has no been finished to the level where it will work in the field..... so quote with name tag removed....... Dave i was responsible for installing such systems when i was a contracts manager so eating standards for breakfast was part and parcel. and of course the company was approved, as i often dealt with the inspectors as no other person was capable. as for grades 4 yes i have completed a few but most systems in everyday commercial only need to be grade3. PD6662 in my book was only an interim until EN50131 was implemneted fully so now its not called for, but what would i know i'm only a mere subby so at best misguided ?
integrafire Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 We used to use a system at the MoD that was a grade 4 system designed by another government body called Special Services Group. It was called the AC12. The technology was pretty smart with encoded signals on the detection lines which were also balanced thereby making it impossible to dummy the line. I think the dept was wound up a few years back but i am sure they were the first grade 4 system in the world.
