How To Reset Tamper Detetection On Aritech Cp32?

Hi, the backup battery in the above panel died, so I replaced it (mains power off). As soon as I plugged in the new one, the alarm started to ring, so I put the cover back on and entered the default code 01122 and it stopped.

I tried to go through the procedure to change the code to my own one, but it always shows "t." which I presume means tamper detect. I couldn't set the alarm either.

So for the moment I have disconnected the backup battery, and everything works as it did with the dead battery - i.e. the alarm is and will be fine until the next powercut.

Does someone have the code to reset the tamper detect? Without it I see two possible options to get the battery installed:

1) discharge the battery before connecting it, hopefully if it's discharged enough then it won't remember that it has been 'tampered'

2) There's a jumper on the PCB marked 'TAM' which I presume is to enable tamper detection. I can live without this, so might open the jumper up.

Of course the proper way would be best. Just a thought - do I have to hold in the tamper switch as I connect the battery by any chance?

The annoying thing is I installed a bunch of these with my dad 10 years ago, but do you think I can still find the installation manual? (he's no longer around)

Thanks for any advice

Hello there, this is a wild stab in the dark but is the tamper switch on the panel closed properly since you put the lid back on?

Could only presume so.

Solved the problem anyway - taped the tamperswitch down, reconnected the battery, lid back on, felt the tape release the tamper switch, power on, 01122 is the default code, changed it as per the instructions in the user manual.

Sorted.

I wonder if the procedure to follow would be to disconnect from the mains, lid off, connect new battery, lid on (and thus tamper closed) and then power up again? ANyway most important thing is that you sorted it...

ETA I've just read your first post again and it looks like this is what you did (hits self over head with heavy, hard, hammer)
