magpye
the 9800 was a good panel in it's time, but the 'bF' fault caused by a duff battery is a most annoying fault, bleeping when the alarm is not set. later panels report this 'error' on the keypad. Story - Had the family over from the good old US of A for a 5 week stay, (all 6 of them) made the house hold 11 for the 5 weeks. Now elderly mother-in-law needs 24/7 care so is never left alone, the alarm has not been used for months. Had an idea, let's go to the USA for a holiday, know a v. good social worker so managed to get respite care organised at short notice, eldest son works for an airline so no problem with flights, all sorted for the week after the US family returned home. 03:00, have to be at Heathrow by 05:30, no problem, car out and loaded, just set the alarm, DAMN, what are we going to do, there is a battery fault showing at the Keypad (sited in the under stair cupboard). The insurance says that the house has to be occupied or the alarm set if left empty. Who's not going on this flight then, or do we take a chance and leave the house unprotected, there have been a lot of incidents in this area of late? If only the alarm sounded some sort of warning when there is a battery fault, might have only been there 5mins or 5weeks or more, we'll never know. Sound familiar? Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.
