Gees Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 Somewhere I've got an old RS232 breakout box for testing/patching/setting all those signals.Mind you in many cases a paper clip usually did the trick You often find that some devices use x-on/x-off which makes life difficult and can be looking for DSR too. And devices like lasers of course often need a page throw of some sort to force a print out, otherwise it just gets buffered internally. Xon Xoff only works with a Tx data and a Rx data connection between the kit. The interface only has Tx data connected.... thats what threw me a bit at first. All sussed now.. I even got the laser to work after a fashion...
mjw Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 a Life ? really really sorry but the chance was there and I`m too weak LOL Very good

Yes, that's why I said anything that uses Xon/Xoff would be difficult (impossible?) Glad you got it working, I was getting ready to dig out all my old serial interface documentation. Just for amusement like
