Matt Ward Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Hi, (I am in the trade) Does anyone know if the transformer on a Galaxy 60 will work with the Galaxy G3-144 PCB? I just want to swap out the PCB of my Galaxy 60 to a G3 (and possibly add some PCB supporting pillars if I need them) I have not yet had any dealings with the G2/G3 range, hope the 'alarm sound' has been developed into something that sounds better than a pulsing bleep! Many thanks for any replies. Matt

antinode Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 The end station and PCB is completely different on both panels. Is it for a customer or yourself? If the latter, I would be inclined to stick with the 60. For the hassle and expense of swapping the boards, it's not really worth the difference in my opinion. The 60 is one of the best out there. Unfortunately for you the alarm sound is exactly the same. I would always go for a seperate internal sounder anyway and leave the LS for entry/exit and alert tones. Trade Member

Matt Ward Posted November 11, 2007 Author Posted November 11, 2007 i was wondering that myself, whats the point? It's for my house. If it's not better than the G-60 then I will use it to train the engineers in the office!
camerabloke Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 that should take all of 10 mins then? Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
Matt Ward Posted November 11, 2007 Author Posted November 11, 2007 that should take all of 10 mins then? I am not going to run through 'all' the features of the Galaxy panel! It's just going to be - connect up these RIOs/keypads and SASounders, switch it on and program the zones! As we specialise with Access Control and CCTV, most of our engineers do not have any alarm experience. Doesn't the G3 have any improvements over the Galaxy 60?
alterEGO Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I am not going to run through 'all' the features of the Galaxy panel! As we specialise with Access Control and CCTV, not of our engineers many have any alarm experience - in my experience alarms are much easier than Access Control systems (Cardax).Doesn't the G3 have [/b]any[/b] improvements over the Galaxy 60? oh here we go, IMO don't fit what you don't know.
Matt Ward Posted November 11, 2007 Author Posted November 11, 2007 oh here we go, IMO don't fit what you don't know. I've been fitting Galaxy for years and been in the alarm trade for 10 years. I moved into Access/CCTV before the G2/G3 regulations were in existance, therefore I have not fitted the latest Galaxy kit. I bought a brass keypad and flushed it into the woodwork of my kitchen cabinets - looks great, but I am now tied to Galaxy kit! (well, I'm going to have to replace the kitchen cabinet to move to a Texecom keypad!). I am just fishing for an updated Galaxy panel/software. As I said before, if it's no better than the Galaxy 60 then I will use it elsewhere. Matt
whistle Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 If you dont need to upgrade Dont do it. At least you wont have to clear alerts every time there is a problem with the G60.
