arfur mo Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Hope someone can help me please,Its a long story but I have just had a Texecom Veritas R8 Plus installed. I'm a total novice which is why I had someone install my alarm. We use "Full Set" when we all leave the house and "Part Set" when we leave the dog behind so he doesnt trigger the PIR in the hallway. When we use "full set" and enter the house we get the low volume "entry" tone and then enter our code which unsets the alarm. When we use the "part set" and enter the house we get an alarm activation, enter our code to stop the activation and then have to press reset to unset the alarm. We dont think this is right, our installer says it is (as I said, its a long story). Surely even on a part set when you come into the house on a normal entry route it shouldnt activate the alarm (our old system never did) I have read the User Guide which talks about setting up different Part set configurations but none refer to entry routes. Obviously we dont want to omit our front door which is our normal entry / exit route on a part set as this sort of defeats the object. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Andy ffrom your description, imo this is simply a programming error and takes about 20 seconds to sort out. but you can't change it from the user operations as it has to be altered from 'engineer' mode. so if you paid for a pro installation then simply get them back to program it properly, as no way should you get a full alert on entry via the correct entry route if set up properly. i'm surprised if they would not come back as 'soon as' if they valued there reputation at all. possibly the engineer has set the front door to act immediate in part set, which is a common action for leaving the downstairs on when going to bed, you have used it a different way, so a really simple programming step. while your at it, get the hall pir replaced by a pet tolerant one rather than leave the poor dog under protected (every being has rights you know). i have 9 stone dotty rotty even she can't false activate the pir's, but if i blunder through it go's straight away. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
arfur mo Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Will only spill the beans if I cannot get this guy to fix it.I have the installation manual now and also I am a "techy" (computers and datacommunications) so having read the manual I know it can be done quite easily. Its also been pointed out that in part set the bell doesnt sound by default and needs to be configured, guess what, mine is still at default. Will keep you updated. Thanks to all you guys for your help and suggestions. Know, just have to either get the guy back or get him to reveal the engineers code which allows me to do it myself. Andy don't leave us on a cliff hanger - spill all now so we can regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
