TheGovernor Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Hello all, I know us noobs do this, register on a forum and ask a question straight away, so apologies for that straight off the bat I've got a Galaxy 8 that I inherited, I've got the engineer code (at least I think I do) but what I don't know how to do is change the system to take certain zones out when it is Part Set. The guy before us had a games room that we use as a bedroom which means if we Part Set at night one of our children sets the alarm off! I guess what I need to know is what the menu sequence is (and how I access it) and then what the various mnemonics mean to make the change. I'm in IT so I'm pretty tech-savvy (he says!) but I'm just not familiar with the menu structure on the system. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance for any help

TheGovernor Posted November 22, 2007 Author Posted November 22, 2007 You will need an engineer to do it for you the inforamation you require is sensitive and wont be given out on the forum Is it really? I wouldn't think the menu structure is especially sensitive, I'm not asking for help to hack the system as I have the access codes, I just don't know the menu options? Knowing the menu structure doesn't give away a method to crack the alarm, as you still need the PIN, or am I missing something obvious?
Guest anguscanplay Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 , or am I missing something ? yep, topic is a regular one (done to death as well) if you have a manual you`ll find all the info in there, if you can`t work it out from the book then it`s beyond your ability and you`ll need to call in an engineer. Dont get us wrong we would spend all night arguing amongst ourselves how to describe the concept of "part set" to you, but the press code, menu number, sub menu etc compramises yesterdays job non intended Amgus
TheGovernor Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 Thanks for the reply, the problem is that I didn't have a manual so I could be sure which menu option to pick. I don't understand what you meant by your last comment? Did you mean me knowing the menu items compromises a job you've done previously? No offense taken I just think we have our wires crossed (no pun intended!)

No offense taken I just think we have our wires crossed (no pun intended!) yes, thats the argument we dont want to get into - I tell you how to alter part sets, the smart kid from yesterdays job copies you and then mums left with no alarm, he could perhaps ask the manfs. for the manual and work it out but that wouldnt be my fault then - see? you need the manual but site rules say NO, try the manfs. whoever fitted it or even one of the online auction sites
TheGovernor Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 Okay fair comment ( I don't necessarily agree but I can accept it ) Just out of interest, why are the manufacturer manuals so highly guarded? Surely they're useless without an engineer code? I may be being cynical, but it seems a bit like holding a gun to people head, sort of a knowledge is power thing...

At the end we certify your system will do XYZ
