Guest anguscanplay Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Thanks to all... yes it is going to be monitored and maintained... Hmm, policed?
AlarmingRich Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Hi, Why I do appreciate your advise I would just like to know where to put about 4 wires!!! That's all? I don't have the manual and I'm doing this from memory! I have done the keypads, done the external sounders, internal sounders and panic button... it's just the PIR's and Contacts I want to be sure that I'm putting the right place! So I'll ask the same question again... can someone please just advise me where to put them in the panel!
Guest anguscanplay Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 So I'll ask the same question again... can someone please just advise me where to put them in the panel! see thats why we ask our questions before we answer yours, we have no idea who you are or why you are really asking so seen as you started it first I`ll ask again too " HMM POLICED ?" not been funny but it really does make a difference to wether I can help
AlarmingRich Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Hi, ok I'm not sure what you mean by Policed... If you are refering to monitoring... I'm just using a dialer that will talk to a Birmingham based monitoring centre and call me if the alarm goes off... My background... contracted for Contract Fire and Security (CFS) in birmingham working on CCTV installs, touched on alarms but haven't done it for ages! I hope that helps... Thanks Rich
AlarmingRich Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Hi, Ok this is starting to make more sence... just a few little points I'm unsure of... on the panel I have 16 Zones with 3 terminal per 2 zones... obviously the centre one being a common across the 2 zones... So looking at the diagram in that post... the PIR's I have wired correctly with the resistors and the power is obvious so it's just the other 2.. 1 coming from tamper and 1 from alarm... do I use a global tamper or is one of these common... i.e. I'll have 2 wires in the centre (1 for each zone) As for the door contacts... I presume they don't need power.... so I'm left with 3 wires... a common... tamper and switch... where do these go? Or am I using 2 zones on the panel as 1 zone... i.e. only having 8 zones on the panel (which is fine) Thanks for the top advise... Rich

Rich surely you would be wise and prudent to obtain the proper manual from cooper security (perent company) rather than faffing about in the dark? lets also say i'm a bit confused (yeah! i know guys - so whats new ), if the ARC (Alarm Receiving Center) is only to call you, if so you don't really need an ARC but a voice dialer. i don't know about this panel, but many now support zone splitting, this ids done by different value resistors in the same 'loop' and programmming steps so they can monitor masking or it's say Z4 pir Lounge Z5 Monitoring of masking in lounge, you need the manual for the correct advice which should be easy for you if as you say, you have plenty of previous experience and just a bit rusty. you have been well advised by others, masking can be problematic and you don't need it for Grade 2 systems so Grade 3 is pointless if you don't need it, your tame alarm company should risk access and then advise you best. as they are taking it over, perhaps they will offer you some technical advice which is in line with your actual needs (which we don't know) ands so more relevant. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
