Moo Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 I have just changed my system to a Accenta Mini Panel (8SP399A) with remote LCD keypad. Although the alarm system is working fine my question is should the backlight on the remote keypad stay illuminated all the time? At the moment it stays lit for about 20 seconds after the last key press, I would prefer it if the keypad remained lit permanently as the keypad is in the hallway & it means turning on a light to see the keys & as I go out early in the morning it will disturb others in the house. Does anybody know of a setting in the software that can be changed or does the panel have a fault? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Moo, i don't know this particular panel, but many have back light 'time out' set as a default. many keypads are located on landings or in master bedrooms so would be a nuisance. if the key pad was easily observed say from a hall window being illuminated could aid an intruder finding it. i would be surprised if you can't program it to stay 'on' but may be the latest design regs now prevent this option, so look under keypad settings in the engineers manual, or speak to your supplier as they should offer tech help regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

The keypad backlight going off after 20s is what it's meant to do - doesn't sound like there's a panel fault. There isn't a programming option to change this - it's just the way the panel is. Presumably you can locate the RKP in the dark by the power and/or day LEDs? You could always enable single key set (on a G3 it's Flag A Option 6, on a G4 it's Flag 2 Option 2) and then you only have to touch the set key, which you can find by feel (bottom R of the RKP) and the the RKP will light up.
