pigsinspace
After 14 months of living in my new house without touching the alarm system or the mysterious metal box in the airing cupboard, earlier today the missus said, "What's in that box?". Throwing caution to the wind we opened it up and saw the word "security". By the time the penny had dropped the tamper alarm was going off in the keypad downstairs. I don't know the code number, the previous owner didn't know the code number and as far as I can tell the alarm hasn't been set in 5 or 6 years at least. What happens if i rip out the little buzzer in the keypad? Does the alarm go off? Or do I just deserve the nagging little drone for being such a bleedin' numpty??? You need to call an engineer, there are ways round it, but then, you could be a burglar, or a burglar could read this. An engineer should be able to default this panel back to factory (though they sometimes die in the process) and give you a new code - have you tried a few generic codes in it to make it stop - in case the previous owner left you with an easy code? Pulling wires out without knowing what you are doing can be dangerous to you and your property.
