lost Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Hi, we recently had to change doors, so the door contacts were removed from the old door and put on to the new one. We now keep getting a Tamper alarm and are unable to set the alarm. Any ideas? Regards
spider Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Sounds like you have crossed or shorted your wires when connecting to the new contact, make sure you don't have and loose strands touching or shorting to door frame if metal
lost Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Sounds like you have crossed or shorted your wires when connecting to the new contact, make sure you don't have and loose strands touching or shorting to door frame if metal hiya, thanx for your reply, the thing is, our system is wireless.....!! The casing of the contact wasn't even opened as far as I'm aware. If I place the two bits of contact close together the red light comes on, but when I try to set the system it goes off with Tamper Alarm...!!

Check the cover is securely screwed on and the unit is firmly screwed to the door, may have been nudged when the door was changed..
arfur mo Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 could be when you removed the lid on the contact you might have either lost the small spring or lever many have. look for a micro switch which will have a lever, or a button that looks like those used on computer keyboards which will have a spring, if you have lost the spring raid an old retractable ball point. you can usually hear a faint 'click' as the switch is depressed by the lid just before it snaps on. post a photo of the unit with the lid removed if you have further problems regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
Monty Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 think you would need to open the casing to re fix to the door standard and should have back tamper closed by good fit to facing or possibly your system requires an engineer reset after a tamper alarm ?? www.AllanMoncrieffAlarms.com
Alarm Protection Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 As Monty says you would have to open the case to get the door contact o but if you know what system you have got then we will be able to help. If it is a Gardtec then you have to open and close the door a couple of times to send the tamper restore back to the panel! !
