Monty Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Has the mains supply been removed from the panel and is now running the batterie down. their should be a green day light (or is it red )if the mains are present. www.AllanMoncrieffAlarms.com

chasnew Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 yes i have turned the main power off ,as we could not continue with the noise from the siren in the standby mode.by the way this system is 15 years old.
Alarm Protection Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Has it ever been serviced....both batteries replaced in control panel and bell?? This could be the problem and these units lose their memory and go haywire if not serviced. !

Alarm Protection Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 You should get an engineer in to sort this problem as he would be able to check the back up battery voltage etc as these panels have a tendency to blow the back up circuit so when the power is turned of then the battery will not take the job on! Betteries should be replaced every 3-5 years depending on where the panel is so you maybe lucky but i doubt it. Get an engineer in but get 3 prices first then decide who you want cos the cheapest is'nt always the best! Willie !

alterEGO Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 hi willie, i have put in a new battery in the control panel a week ago and all seems to be working well. i do realise i have been lucky here, many thanks for your help. charley. it will seem ok, as its a new battery, and will have charge in it. i went to a locked out optima only today, the battery had been left in for donkeys and it had blown the charging circuit. so what happens is, your battery goes flat after a short time, as it isn't being charged. i would find it very hard to belive the circuit hasn't blown after 15 yrs with no service. for the cost, it is worth having it checked out, you saved 15yrs of service money anyway
