satsuma01
has anyone got anything explaining about the regs regarding the siren outside going off for 20 minutes only? spider
It was covered in 'Code of practice on noise from audible intruder alarms 1982' section 4.1 refers directly to 20 min time, this was strengthened in 'noise and statutory nuisance act 1993'

amateurandy
15 minutes according to pd6662 - times change Different things though, and remember this is the DIY section. PD6662 is a standard that professional installers must follow (anyone care to quote the LAW that says so, out of interest......). I believe it only applies to new installs, but that's not my area . The 'noise and statutory nuisance act 1993' (if that's the correct title) applies to all (read it to check the actual scope )
arfur mo
as far as i know the legal limit is 20 min's continuous with a possible fine up to 5k, so what happens if it stops for 10 seconds every 20 min's are 'you' safe? regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! The chances of the average DIY'er having any awareness of it I would have thought were minimal, as for actually having a copy of PD6662, well at
