markash Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Just installed my first alarm (Texecom 24) and all seems to have gone well but I have a couple of questions. Each button press on the keypad produces a tone, is there anyway of reducing their volume of turning them off? I have also installed a new Intellisense Dual Tech PIR with Anti-masking (DT7550C) in the garage and have noticed that I can activate the microwave detection by standing on the other side of the door. I have already set the microwave sensitivity to its minimum. I can't get the PIR to trigger though so is this acceptable? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
breff Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 They cant be turned off, but you will be amazed what a bit of bluetack over the piezo hole can do. Can you not reposition the dualtech to look backwards into the garage rather than towards the door. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

I have used a piece of blutack and it's definately a bit better. Maybee Texecom Should supply a piece of bluetack in the ancilleries pack! with regard to the dualtech I will probably do what you sugested and move it. The only issue this brings up is that the cable needs to be longer. Is it ok to joint the existing cable or is it recomended to pull a new cable. Ps: I use a Scantronic prox tag for my work alarm, is it fully compatible with the LCDP I use at home? I tried adding to my master user entry and it seemed to have worked as it shows up in Wintex but when I try to use it it doesn't seem to detect it. Thanks for your help.
breff Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I dont think the tag will work, texecom make their own. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
iSTORM Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 If you have taken the time to install the system properly, i would recommend putting in a new cable to the dual tech. My Name is Iain iStorm Security Solutions Visit My Website
antinode Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 If you have taken the time to install the system properly, i would recommend putting in a new cable to the dual tech. Quoted for agreement. The fewer joints in a system the better. Trade Member
markash Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Quoted for agreement. The fewer joints in a system the better. Will run a new wire. Might need to come back to you all and ask more questions as I fine tune the system. Thanks for your advice.
TSS Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 You may have problems with the mask detection on the dt if it "see's" too much microwave activity without a pir activation Try adjusting the range of the MW not my first choice for a garage... would have chosen the Pyronix KX15DT or DTAM... Is this system suitable for the DIY installer? I have installed a couple of systems from CEF (challenger maybe??) over the last 5 years without any problem. Looking for a system for my new store (180m2 plus office etc). would prefer to do my own install if poss, just because I feel I'm capable, being very hands on when it comes to these things ( probably to the despair of my wife who would rather I didn't spend hours researching etc, but I don't watch TV so....).
