m1ne5h Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Hi, I recently moved house with an Accenta 8 system fitted. I've managed to find a user guide so changed the code which we wanted to, however on a couple of occasions the alarm has gone off whilst out of the house with one particular zone showing. I check the area where that pir and door sensor is but nothing out of the ordinary appears. Recently as soon as we set the alarm and shut the front door the alarm rings straightaway, with the same zone showing the attack led. Also as I've redecorated I managed to pull off a connector block which was nailed into the wall the nails are now in the connector block, is there anyway I can open the connector block without it possibly setting off the alarm if it's wired in such a way? I assume entering engineering mode will allow me to do this? Also is it normal for PIR's to not show any activity when moving round the house? In my previous place the red light in the sensor would always go and off when moving around, these do nothing at all. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Pretty sure if the Attack LED is showing thats a Panic circuit. with the same zone showing the attack led Just the Attack LED, or a Zone LED and Attack LED? Also as I've redecorated I managed to pull off a connector block which was nailed into the wall the nails are now in the connector block, is there anyway I can open the connector block without it possibly setting off the alarm if it's wired in such a way? I assume entering engineering mode will allow me to do this? If it goes off just enter your code. Is this definatly a connector block, not a panic button? Also is it normal for PIR's to not show any activity when moving round the house? In my previous place the red light in the sensor would always go and off when moving around, these do nothing at all. Depends if the LED in the PIR is enabled..... Set the system leave a door open, and walk around see if each zone lights up. If not, perhaps the len's on the PIR's are dirty. If the PIR's are not getting power the system wont set because the zones with remain open.

arfur mo Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Hi, I recently moved house with an Accenta 8 system fitted. I've managed to find a user guide so changed the code which we wanted to, however on a couple of occasions the alarm has gone off whilst out of the house with one particular zone showing. I check the area where that pir and door sensor is but nothing out of the ordinary appears. you need to identify if both units are on the same zone, decent engineers don't usually mix pirs with door contacts so you need to do a walk test best aided by another person watching the indicators on the panel as you open the door and stand still to allow the pir to setle (refer to manual for fuller instructions bout 'walk test'). Recently as soon as we set the alarm and shut the front door the alarm rings straightaway, with the same zone showing the attack led. might be the panic button tamper (if fitted) of faulty connection to the door contact Also as I've redecorated I managed to pull off a connector block which was nailed into the wall the nails are now in the connector block, is there anyway I can open the connector block without it possibly setting off the alarm if it's wired in such a way? I assume entering engineering mode will allow me to do this? if this is a junction box (which is my bet due to the nails ) depends on the way the engineer wired it, if it is 'anti-tampered', going into engineer mode you should be able to open it, but be very careful not to accidentally change the settings Also is it normal for PIR's to not show any activity when moving round the house? In my previous place the red light in the sensor would always go and off when moving around, these do nothing at all. depends, sometimes they are deactivated or only work in walk test, so do a walk test and check they are actually working Thanks in advance for any assistance. best option for you is to call a local engineer, he/she should sort your system out, and offer any pertinent upgrades regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
