REX Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Hi My alarms power button is flashing continously and I'm unable to set it ? I inherited the alarm from the previous occupant 18 months ago with no paperwork or details of who installed it, I am currently in the process of refurbing my kitchen so if I can sort out the alarm It would be the perfect time to replace the old (yellow) sensors and add and set up new ones elsewhere in the house. I have read previous posts about who should be allowed installation manuals etc but being a maintenance technician by trade and someone who does 99% of the work in my house I would certainly consider doing it myself if I was to obtain an Installation guide. Any help greatly appreciated Email toulson@btinternet.com

Any help greatly appreciated Email toulson@btinternet.com the site rules forbid us to give out engineer manuals, it's a very common panel so you could look up the local alarm suppliers and ask then to obtain a copy, or google the manufacturer and contact them. i do fully respect your abilities, but would suggest you reconsider and get a engineer. he/she will have the job done and dusted by the time you've got to grips with the manual and can trim it to best suit your needs. trust me, there is a vast range of kit options out their, so a lot more to the job requiring our type of experience to get the right blend, in order to get your system to perform both well and reliably. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
FASTCAR Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 If the power light is flashing , you have a power supply problem , have you turned off any electrical circuits?, or it could be telling you that the battery is failing.
kka Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 agree power fault...have the supply voltages checked, then the fuses etc etc etc Kevin Scott. Owner of KK Alarms...... Installation .. Service .. REX Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 agree power fault...have the supply voltages checked, then the fuses etc etc etc I Have tried turning the power off (thought maybe the battery was dead and the flashing light was an indication of this) but to no avail the control unit remained the same - will investigate further ! Chorlton Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 If the power light is flashing , you have a power supply problem , have you turned off any electrical circuits?, or it could be telling you that the battery is failing. As fastcar says the battery could be duff, they are a consumble item (just like in your car) and should ideally be changed every 4ish years to prevent faults.
kka Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 check the battery, or throw it away and pop in a new one....then start from there..... Kevin Scott. Owner of KK Alarms...... Installation .. Any help greatly appreciated Email toulson@btinternet.com The Power light on the control panel is a status indicator for the battery charging circuit, a steady light meaning normal. A flashing light means action required - mains power can still be present. ALWAYS use a suitable mains test instrument to confirm that mains power is no longer present. The transformer and heatsink may be hot during and after use - do NOT touch. Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.
