arfur mo Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 ah but you dont fit to regs so it`ll never be an issue for you (nowt to do with comms ) God bless the EU then regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
arfur mo Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 i would never fit a system with out tamper on engineer reset, they could do anything and blame you. surely you change the engineer code from the default? if the client don't know it, how will they ever be able to chang the program? if they default the panel code's (and you don't lock it in), your code will no longer work proving outside interference/un-authorised tampering has taken place by person or persons unknown. back up your settings with udl, and i can't see an issue withs such positive proof available regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

arfur mo Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 detects wire links does it - your UDL ? i don't see what difference that would make? client opens box causes 'box tamper' then links out zones and shuts box, then breaks in the following weekend. reports 'intrusion' and has to inform you a.s.a.p. as part of his insurance conditions to restore/reset the alarm system and re-secure the building properly. so you attend and check the log and no engineers have been on-site on the date of the tamper, download the panel for evidence of no engineer codes used. a used zone will have attributes and label set, an unused zone will be programmed off and no label other than default (thats what i do), paperwork will confirm client or representative, has observed all zones were tested back to the panel, and so operational (or don't you do that?), same wording on maintenance sheets (or don't you do that either?). remember angus, i go way back to prehistoric alarm days, working with systems with no logs, you were lucky to have separate circuits, let alone a latching circuit indication. trust me, and that 'trick' has been tried many many times and i was very adept and have several methods of knocking them criminals into touch when i worked for firms. the system gets tested in front of other witnesses without any lids being touched, makes it real difficult to claim a system malfunction when it then test's as working perfectly within it's design constraints. did have a quiet laugh at one 'are you serious' jeweler in North london, i got sent in after a 'no response' burglary. i tested and proved the system was working fine. so i asked him was it he who set the system and to demonstrate how he operated it. i think he decided i'd 'got him', so he then tried to claim although he was shown how to use the system properly, nobody had told him he had to actually set his system when he left, so that was why he got cleared out through our negligence and was going to sue everyone and their cat for his loses never heard anymore - i wonde why? que the Winnebago driver and his mis-understanding of using the auto-cruise for auto pilot regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
