dazzler Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Hello All Just looking for Security engineers views on my latest gadget. First of all I would like to tell you that I am new to this forum but by no means new to the industry, I am an approved installer with over 10 yrs in the UK industry. I spent some time in China during 07 and whilst there I have developed a new DVR system for use in conjuction with any alarm system. It is a small dvr 3 layer pcb approx only 2"sq in size. Therefore can easily be housed inside an Intruder Alarm CP or alternate housing. It contains an on-board sd memory card slot which will allow up to a 2gb memory card to be installed. It will have flying leads soldered to the pcb which you can wire in to your cp. There will be a total of 5 wires to connect. The 12volt dc supply to your aux supply. The video signal pair to a camera and a Ov trigger to be connected to your bell output or programmed output. Upon alarm activation the DVR will begin recording. The unit can take stills every second whilst in alarm using jpeg format or shoot video using AVI, the neccessary time for recording can be adjusted, and all images will be time/date stamped(so can be used as evidence), First in-First out recording style. Mpeg4 compression. 2gb sd card would provide 10000 photographs or over 500 video clips. Simply remove the sd card and view the recordingd on a PC or other suitable equipment Obviously cams can be situated where needed. But if you run 8 core to your PIRS, you can install a dc line camera(pinhole)inside the PIR using the local detectors supply and use the spare cores for your signal back to the DVR.....perfect. Miliamp draw is mimimal The product will carry CE cert. It's a sure fire way of making sure the Cams are Recording when they need to be, without an invasion of Privacy. Obviously standalone DVRS have an input for an alarm signal but far too often customers would spend
arfur mo Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 hi dazzler, a somewhat simular product to yours is called memocam has the sd dvr unit and camera built inside a working pir, same idea but initiated by motion detection recording and can accept a 2nd camera input. the one i've seen is monochrome 640 x 480 res, they were bringing out a color version last i heard. big advantage was it is completely self contained and could be run off a a battery hidden in the ceiling tiles. i've tried to sell them but with no real interest, 'proper' cctv is preferred to 'fiddling' with sd cards and opening lids, but i'm sure your device will find a market, i'd advise don't order the Ferrari just yet . could be a bigger market for you in taxi cabs, i've had several inquirer's on this but i just hate working on cars as it alway chucks it down. could also be useful for personal recording for driving, so when that clown cuts you up you have proof who caused the accident (this is getting very popular in the states to lower insurance premiums). regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
dazzler Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Thanks for your reply Alan. We have looked at other applications for the new device, although as you say similar is already available. This is unique in the fact that it doesnt rely on a cheapo PIR for an activation, but the actual alarm system itself (which providing installed and maintained properly)will prove 100 % reliable. The other key benefits is obviously the cost .I fully appreciate your comments, and look forward to hearing a few other opinions...........I'll put the new motor on hold for now..........!
