IA76 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Hello What are the maximum cable lengths for video & 12v power cable to a cctv camera with infrared? TIA
breff Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Depends on the current draw and the thickness of cable. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
lowlofe Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Hi there What type of camera are we talking about here? Because the draw off the Ir unit can be anything from 1-500w Regards Alex
TSS Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 12V IR's even if LED can pull some serious current so cable lengths should usually be as short as possible and in flex rather that alarm cable. We usually get a mains cable dragged out to the camera to save the day... TSS Communication is "A question asked, and an Opinion given." I offer mine to help you with yours. IA76 Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 The specs for the camera show:- Operating Voltage: 12V DC 750mA What about video cable? What is the max length for that?
breff Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 750ma on alarm cable (single cores)= approx 16 metres 750ma on 1mm T&E= approx 70 metres Basically the thicker the cable the less voltage drop. IIRC RG59 video cable is good for approx 250/300 metres, if you use CAT5 and baluns you can go approx 500m with passive baluns and 1km with active baluns. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
breff Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Whos BRETT??? LOL The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
