davespro Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I've managed to access the system as a manger to add another 2 electronic keys to the system. One works fine. The other however is not playing ball when putting the electronic key into the alarm (there is only one KP) the screen reads 'not accessible. no authority'. I'm sure the user has top (manager) authority but it just wont work. When trying to associate the same key with another user, Key Fail appears Is there a way to ascertain which user a kep has been associated with to ensure that the user rights are correct, and does anyone have anyother ideas why the heck I'm having no luck?? Dave
ISSLee Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 ^bump^ Hiyas. User 02 is the "manager" user of a windsor...you have to go into "user authority" first to set up the user (Master, Ordinary, set/unset etc...). Only then can you go into the "PIN" of that user to associate the key. Hope that makes sense... If it isnt happening then there are a couple possible reasons.... First, the key may very well be faulty, they are not the best of electronic keys. Depending on which type you have as well (black torpedo shaped ones are the newest, light-coloured "flat" ones are the oldest and really didnt work too well tbh.) Second, you arent at "manager" level. Only a manager can add/remove/change users. Same on most panels. Check in log (option 03, second page if i recall?) to see who you are logging in as. If neither of those help, then resetting the user table is the only way forward...easy to do IF you know the chubb-guardall engineer number. Simply kill mains and batts to panel, restart, enter engineer code. Go into "Edit" and this time you will see option "0" Defaults. Once in there you can reset all of the user table and start again, just incase the table has been corrupted (very likely on the windsor....btw what version you got? 3.x? hopefully....the earlier ones are wayyyyy past sell-by date hehe). Hope this helps matey, Lee ISS
black knight Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Firstly i would,nt advise trying the above - it may invaladate any warrenties as a minimun , secondly you could totally cream cracker your system if you are not used to alarm systems, thirdly if chubb are using the 'pin of the day' on this system which the windsors do use from memory (i worked for chubb , for my sins 8 years ago) then you again will be totally up swannie. just my thoughts ps isslee defaulting info is not allowed - check the site rules, Paul THE BLACK KNIGHT "Any comments / opinions posted are my opinion only and do not represent those of my employer or Company."

Warranty on windsors would be way old by now, they stopped selling the windsor at least 5 years ago. I agree totally with Paul in the fact that if you dont know what you are doing you can easily kill this panel, just by giving it a hard stare sometimes hehe. I had presumed that Davespro had at least a working knowledge of the system as he had gotten that far by himself anyway..... Just trying to help....dont hit me too hard, i bruise like a peach Lee ISS
davespro Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 thanks for your help Black Knight & ISSLee. Most greatful. I'll let you know how i get on when i have time to fumble around with the blasted thing. Hope you're enjoying the weather!
weesidney Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Sounds like the authority level hasn't been put on or you haven't switched the "area" on (you'll find that option in the authority screen after you give the user an authority) Log back on with your master code number Go to codes Type in the user number that you want to check and look for authority option Enter into the authority menu and check the user has an authority (master/main/cleaner etc) if that is correct then press the down arrow and make sure the user is assigned to the first area ( it may read area 1 - off) (or it may have been given a name by an engineer eg - system if it does then it would say system-off) if it says off then toggle it on, I think you press 1 to toggle it on, I assume your alarm doesn't have seperate areas. If it does let me know. Hope this helps wee sidney ps - is it the black torpedo shaped fobs?
