Scantronic 9448+ E/e Problem

Sometimes when setting the alarm to exit the tone does not beep intermittently and gives a continuous tone. when this happens the E/E light on the control panel shines green, instead of flashing red. if the alarm is left to set it will trigger the siren after 30 seconds.

However, when the alarm does set correctly on exiting it is fine, but when re-entering it does not beep and flash red, and the siren goes off after 30 seconds.

No other lights flash on the control panel when this happens.

Please can someone help with this query?

Thank you

sounds like the E/E contact is faulty probibly fitted to your exit door try testing in a walk test to see if it is working ??

the 'single' tone indicates all zones are 'clear', a pulsed tone indicates a zone or zones are not clear.

if you start with the front door open or have activated the hall pir when setting you will get the pulsed tone, so this is not a fault just indicates the door is working properly, if when shut the alarm eventually sets.

if zone 1 (normally the front door) door has dropped this will cause intermittent faults with arming also false alarms, also check if both halves of the contact lined up and are securely fixed

don't make a common mistake of relying on the tones or the panels indications showing you home is secure, they only indicate the current status of the detection - not that windows are closed or doors are locked.

Monty

thank you for the reply

I have carried out a walkthrough test of the system and the E/E door does not sound when opened, therefore as you stated this is probably a faulty contact sensor. Where can I buy a replacement from?

Thank you
