gla Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Hi, I'm new to this forum. I've got some quotes for an alarm system for a 6th floor apartment. Very simple requirements as only one entry point. The quotes suggest different control panels: Galaxy 2 Homelink 55 Rokonet wisdom Are these all similar quality panels or is one better than another?
TSS Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Every installer has their own preference and usually err's on the side of hardwired rather than wirefree. We've installed lots of galaxy panels and prefer them over the other two TSS Communication is "A question asked, and an Opinion given." I offer mine to help you with yours. Alarm Protection Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Is your flat top floor with an attic?? If so then a Gardtec 480 panel or a eurosec LCD but if it is wireless you require then go for the Gardtec CPX that has a wireless receiver. You can hardwire onto the board and use wireless. Keyfobs are also available to arm/disarm the system. Also this sysytm has a built in dialler to contact you on the mobile/landline to tell you the alarm has activated. Where will the extenall bell go?? You have to watch noise regulations with neighbours in the stairwell etc. Apart rom that then a cherrypicker!!!!!! !
gla Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 Thanks for your replies. No we don't have an attic. We are on the 6th floor out of 8, fairly new build (about 3 years ago). The only way to get to the windows is abseil - that's what the window cleaners do!
Alarm Protection Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 So the need or an alarm system is???????? !

arfur mo Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 tbh you may as well ask what is the better car the focus, astra, renge rover or scenic? there are many many panels and makes of kit available, but unless we know the layout and the risk being protected we can't be accurate in recommending outright which would suit you best. all the panels mentioned could be fine for anything but fairly high security needs i.e. do you have paintings, gold bars or antiques? if not are you in job which might present the danger of personal risk to you or your family perhaps being kidnapped? so all you will likely get as a response is the panels each installer on here prefers, in my case Gardtec. i don't knock the other makes it's just i find for my market their panels cover all i need the easiest way with the bigesst bang per buck. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

leesutton Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I wouldnt bother with an alarm if there is only one entry point, you may as well get an decent extra door lock just to make sure it is even harder for them to try and get in. you have the 5 floors below you they will try first. lee Lee Sutton E-Mail: leesutton@centurianfire.co.uk Website: www.centurianfire.co.uk Phone: 0845 094 9870 CENTURIAN FIRE & SECURITY (part of centurian group limited)
