DaveXC2 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Texecom Voice & Text Dialler, installed on a Texecom Premier Alarm Panel. The one problem I have is a failure to send Text messages using BT SMS text service centre, apart from that, it is fully operational. Using the Text test mode, the Dialler connects and dials the correct service centre number, it progresses through dialling a number until "Waiting Connect" is displayed, I guess it is trying to setup communications with the SMS centre at this point. After about 40 seconds the X button has to be pressed to abort the call, the display then shows "Idle Failed" Both 7 & 8 bit protocols have been tried. Also have a Philips SMS DECT phone which has no problems sending text messages using the same call centre number. A call logger has been installed on the BT telephone line. The service centre number dialled by the SMS DECT phone and the Texecom Dialler is exactly the same. When a Text message is sent via the DECT phone it only takes about 1 or 2 seconds after the SMS centre number is dialled to complete the text message. The DECT/ SMS system is very reliable and never fails to send text messages. The standard outgoing BT SMS service centre number is being used.... 17094009 Anyone had success connecting this dialler to the BT SMS system ? Tried contacting Texecom tech support, no reply to date.
breff Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 use the pre programmed sms centre of 07860980480, I've never had any problems with it The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
DaveXC2 Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 Brieff, Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it is expensive to use this SMS number. The dialler is used for sending texts for the alarm system(only one... Intruder Alarm) and other control system status conditions.... all four inputs are used. This usually amounts to about one or two texts per day. BT call plan on this line allows 200 free texts per month using the default BT SMS call centre. I have now swapped back to my old GSM dialler until the problem with the dialler has been resolved ... text cost 3p each. It is very difficult to understand the failure of this Texecom Dialler, which is designed to connect to the PSTN, but seems unable to use the default SMS system offered on the PSTN. Hopefully it's something I have done/ programmed incorrectly. To date both Texecom tech support and sales have failed to reply to my emails. Will now try contacting their parent company to see if they can provide reliable Texecom contact details.
CDJ Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Is there broadband on the line? if so is the dialler on the filtered side? just a thought, as this is easily forgotten and can cause varying problems similar to what you describe.
