Which Dome Camera?

Recommended Posts

ok this one http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/ir_vandalproof_dome.htm or this one http://www.y3k.com/product.php?xProd=356 . I realise there is a lot of Y3K / xvision bashing that goes on, but just wondered what the actual difference in the products are likely to be, leaving the gripes about service to one side for this post. I am expanding an existing system to cover a new retail area. I am open to other suggestions too. Also am I likely to get better results with traditional box cameras?

Hi

I hope the Y3K / Xvision bashing has now stopped and we have all moved on, we have implemented many improvements in the last couple of years, if we do make a mistake (we are only human after all) we (actually its my job) will always find a fair way to resolve them promptly.

Looking at the specs the RF Concepts unit is True Day & Night (with a mechanical ir filter), our model (XIR538) is not. If 2 cameras are of similar specification and quality, the mechanical ir filter camera should provide better quality colour images during the day.

If you can hold on, at the end of April the XIR538 will be upgraded to include True Day & Night function as standard, however the present version has been on sale for nearly 3 years now and when we first specified the model true day & night function was expensive to add so we did not add it.

The RF Concepts unit says Vision on it, not sure what company/brand that is, but it is not an Xvision product, so I can't comment on its actual performance.

Hope my comments helped.

Best regards

Peter

If you can hold on in a few weeks the XIR538 will be upgraded to include True Day & Night function as standard, however the present version has been on sale for 2+ years now and when we first specified the model true day & night function was expensive to add so we did not add it.

Also I see the RF Concepts unit says Vision on it, not sure what company/brand that is, but it is not an Xvision product, so I can't comment on it.

Thank you Peter. FYI I do have an existing XIR538 and also recently purchased a 1000GB XDVR2, both of which I am very happy with. I do get some false motion detection going on with what I think maybe intereference along the cable runs though (100m +), have struggled to find an acceptable sensitivity level, so resorted to full time recording. I would like to say that the record quality and live view picture quality of this unit is much better than my previous Dallmeier (sp?) DVR which I had for approx 3 years.
