inglishg Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 been on several alarm upgrades that our bell is different from customers old one showing the old paint behind Last week, on a new install, I was asked to take down the old bellbox. Yeah, no problem, I replied. It was a C-type...and a steel one at that. It was quite badly rusted, and had been painted over to match the rendered walls a number of times. The screw was rusted solid. I ended up using my "Manchester adjustable" and chiseled through around the screw which allowed me to start to prise the cover off. It was then I realised the cover was sunk into the wall... Oh dear...when I pulled the entire bellbox off the wall, there was bare brick there. The rendering had been applied after the bellbox had been fitted. So, I could now do with fitting a bellbox which is at least as big as the old c-types!!
