Last week, on a new install, I was asked to take down the old bellbox.

Yeah, no problem, I replied.

It was a C-type...and a steel one at that. It was quite badly rusted, and had been painted over to match the rendered walls a number of times.

The screw was rusted solid. I ended up using my "Manchester adjustable" and chiseled through around the screw which allowed me to start to prise the cover off.

It was then I realised the cover was sunk into the wall...

Oh dear...when I pulled the entire bellbox off the wall, there was bare brick there. The rendering had been applied after the bellbox had been fitted.

So, I could now do with fitting a bellbox which is at least as big as the old c-types!!
