CompostCORNER Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Apparently, the most that can be claimed is 40p per mile for the first 10k miles per year. After that, it's down to 25p per mile...If only... I think thats based on you using your own vehicle and not one provided by the company.

Cubit Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 is true No it is not true. You can be paid any amount in expenses for fuel. However, you will pay income tax on any amount over HMRC limits.
whistle Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Not true Its 40p per mile for the 1st 10k and 20p there after this is only is claimed as an expence and is tax free. For this you have to provide a car, maintenance, tax, insurance etc etc. I know cos i provide my own car for my business, you must keep records of all work related milage.

Cubit Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Regarding the fuel allowance It is often overlooked but you can claim tax relief on fuel allowance. You can get this on the difference between what you could have claied (HRMC max allowances) and what you were actually paid. This is based on your current tax levels, so if you are on higher band tax, happy days.
