alterEGO Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Typical Dibble - can't be arsed. They are a waste of space, unless the security system dropped the criminal off at the station gift wrapped they would not be happy. It is a deterrent and a tool, not the full solution.
Jim Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 They are a waste of space, unless the security system dropped the criminal off at the station gift wrapped they would not be happy. It is a deterrent and a tool, not the full solution. Now then guys....... Lets not knock the police, lets put the ball back into your court.... When the industry comes up with some sort of system compatability which can be viewed by the police, the defence solicitors, the suspect and the Crown Prosecution Service then start slagging the police, CCTV is absolutely useless unless the Criminal Justice System has the tools to view it. Unless of course you know a magic bit of kit that can view all types of CCTV???? Regards Jim
james.wilson Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Maybe the police should pass (not recommend but you see where im going) a system or some systems as preferred, a like 'police can play' badge? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
satsuma01 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Maybe the police should pass (not recommend but you see where im going) a system or some systems as preferred, a like 'police can play' badge? It may help if the police had more interest in cuttin serious crime and not picking on the motorists with these b****y cameras because we had an incident on our drive at 5 oclock in the morning (a theft) and all the police said a WEEK later was we havent got the resources to deal with it sorry!!! But if dibble can't be arsed, does it matter what kit is used.
Joe Harris Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I await Dokotrjons reply as I beleive he has already answered this post through his 'Trusted' campaign. The issue is not the technology - but its implementation. 'J
james.wilson Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 From my own experience it seems there is a reluctance to trawl though cctv footage after an event, and often this is left with the client or the service company, which I can understand. Often you need to provide a catalog of the event, with stills and video. Or we do. This obviously helps them We also give them the footage in mpeg (plays in windows media player), relevant jpg's, and native footage. This way they dont need any special playback software unless the evidence is questioned. But it seems that the motorist is processed far more efficently than the things we tend to catch, just my own opinion based on persoanal experiences. Regards Jim hi Jim, with respect i don't think that is anywhere near a fair comment tbh, imo your losing sight of the fact the systems are put in and paid for by the owner, not the Police or by their behest (with some exceptions) and so to a varying allowable cost which influences to a major degree, either size quality or both. the images he hopes will assist him identify offenders and also the Police if serious enough. many incidents are dealt with first hand by barring the culprit, they just don't have time to fill out statements and take every single one to court in order to get them a If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
