Recommended Posts

I settled for the Avermedia 1304NET.

Also, I'm waiting delivery for 2 Vista Vandal Proof cameras which 'easy' was selling on here....

What cable etc do I need to buy?

As this is a trade based forum with numerous trade members I think the replies are what was to be expected.

From the OP I'd assume that he'd just googled for a DVR and asked opinions on what we thought would best suit his needs of the 3 he fancied. Surely it isn't bad to ask more details from him or offer suggestions of our own. He mentioned no buget t'ill later and TBH not many of us would fit anything that cheap so aren't really in a position to offer opinions on what he asks.

Any on-topic reply or suggestion is surely better than nothing.

Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick, but what do you mean by this being a "trade based forum"? I thought this was open to trade and non-trade, hence "public forums" and not restricted in any way.

I do appreciate advice from the pros, they are a vaulable resource, but the O/P has clearly narrowed down to three budget systems given their make and model. I'd considered Avermedia myself before taking the plunge for a DM Sprite 2. I've had a COP DVR before that and both have been great - haven't seen the Avermedia in action, but have seen similar cheaper ones in operation. To be honest, they worked quite well, but in a commercial environment, it may not have the backing of support, but then again, a lot of commercial products are under superb business support....for a price. HOwever, I bought both the DM and COP for under

This part of the forum is not restricted but obviously most advice comes from people that are in the trade and recommend their own personal favorite products from working with them daily.

Im glad you have had a good experience with your second hand DVR's the DM Digital sprite is a great unit.

But i would add, that my own mobile, car, house, computer etc are not the cheapest ones i could find but ones i chose to do the job based on multiple criteria. Budget was obviously part of this but not the only or primary part. DVR's as with everything in life are not all the same.

While i agree that budget must be taken into account if someone is recommending a unit, they can only recommend what they have had direct experience with, Id suggest very few trade people have experience of the OP's original models, but a lot of experience with units such as the DM.

I for example have never even seen an Avermedia 'in the flesh' so wouldn't have a clue and could not comment that it was any better or worse, it may be an amazing product.
