Guest PaulW
I've been thinking of a change of career, I'm interested in becoming a locksmith. At the moment i'm looking into the different course but not to sure which is best? if they are any good. Would it be best to try and start as a trainee first? I spoke to one person last week who reckons I shouldn't but didn't give any reasons why? Does anyone have any advice or expereinces of how best to get into the industry thanks Paul

Red Fox UK
Hello Paul, "Colin" is a member and that is his forum alias. However, PM means "Private Messaging" so what Simmo said was: "Send Colin a Private Message" To do this, you need to register on the forums. Thanks, Warren Red Fox | Hosting Affordable and Reliable UK Based Web Hosting

j.paul
http://www.locksmiths.co.uk/training/index.asp Been a locksmith is like been an alarm installer, the customer wants you there now, and how much, "it's only taken you 2 minutes" Regs jpaul There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots. morph
True Paul, but most of the time they forget that they are paying us for what we know and not what we do. If they paid is for what we know we wouldn't have any customers Paul W, I have emailed you some info too, your best move is to try get a weeks work with a Locksmith in your area (offer your services for free) to make sure that you are cut out for it and give you an insite into the trade. Pauls link is the best place to start on the training front, but theres no substitute for expierience and from your PM i would immagine that you are on reasonable money with your current job, it would take a while to make the same sort of money( you wont automatically earn lots of money, far from it you will probably be spending it on tools and equipment) Paul do you still want that chip progrrammer or are you sorted. Colin. Ps to many Pauls in this one
j.paul
Forgot to mentions all the perks, like finding the odd dead body or the husband who wants to punch you lights out if you charge the locks.... still want that chip progrrammer or are you sorted. Yes thanks Colin Regs jpaul There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
