Scantronic 9800 Zone Expansion Module

Hi,

I have a second-hand Scantronic 9800 which I want to fit to my house. I've set the system up on the bench pretty much as I want it, and it is working fine. However I have a couple of questions:

The 9800 is an 8 zone system which is adequate but 16 zones would suit my needs better. I have read online that Scantronic make a zone expander, would it be compatible with the 9800 and where would I get one?

My second hand panel came with no backup battery, but even if it had come with a battery I would be wanting to fit a new one, so which type should I buy? If someone could provide an RS Components part number for something suitable that would be ideal.

Regards

As the 9800 series is now obsolete finding the expander board could be a problem.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

How can I tell the 9800 and the 9800+ apart? I can't see anything obvious on the main PCB.

On a side note -- can anyone recommend a good quality panel with at least 16 zones?

Look for a big white sticker on the main circuit board, normally stuck on a chip.

The 9800 is a good panel I still have one in my house and I may have an expander I will look if not go to the usual haunt Ebay but the control unit you have is bomb proof.
