kensplace Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Geovision does not honour warranty or support for cards purchased from auction sites, like ebay. It even says so on a peice of paper I got in my geovision 1480 box.... So you may save money (if it is genuine) on ebay, but you may end up screwed over if the card fails, and you need to send it back to geovision, and its purchased from ebay. Seeing as they dont give a toss about geovisions policy (of not honouring warranty on ebay sold cards, nor the fact they never authorise any of it's official dealers to sell on ebay (see their anti-piracy statement here) then you would be taking your chances as to their business ethics (which so far seem non existant in regard to respecting geovision's wishes).... Unless, they are going to honour the warranty themselves, which they may be, as geovision usually offers a 3 year warranty with those cards, not the 1 year as the auction advertises....
basilb Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 Ended up taking the risk and got the ebay card. Pleased to find that it is indeed authentic with original manuals, installation disc (8.12 software), and connectors. Makes you wonder how much of a mark-up the other retailers are making. I updated the software to 8.2 without problem. Warranty might be an issue down the track but hopefully not.
