VXJON Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Need a bit of help with this one While using the honeywell RSS the answer phone defeat option will not work if the BT line has the answering service. The panel will connect if we program the "No of Rings" option to 5 but will not connect if left a the 15 rings ans phone defeat default, the plan is to use UDL to check the system so asking the customer to change the default value is not going to be a option. Anyone had any luck using the RSS with bt answer?

james.wilson Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 the panel needs to be set to ans defeat as well as rss, then it will work. The idea of ans defeat is that when you make the phone ring once, that primes the panel, then it answers the next call, so you ring it once then hang up, then press it again and it answers before the bt one securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

james.wilson Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 we dont use ans defeat due to dedicated lines, but ill test one. I didnt think any ans would affect it.... else whats it defeating? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Guest RJBsec Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I have no issues with any G2's working with answer defeat, however if answer 1571 kicks in immediately or after say 2 rings then you will obviously get issues. Edit - I'm not using RSS for G2's, rather keeping with AccessLite, maybe it's RSS that's causing the issue.
VXJON Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Quick Fix Although honeywell said RSS wont work with 1571 enabled, if you change the timeout period in the comms server options to 20 sec from the default 10 sec it will connect to the panel for the help
