dunt Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 hi all, in the past few years servicing i have come across ALOT of faulty sd1+ auto-dialer's mostly with the same fault every time, very faint sounds & display and crashes on test call... happens mainly in rural areas were there is a transformer near by, suspect cause power surges ? who knows. but but but is anybody having the same problems ? and is there any way to repair the faulty dialer ? we have a shelf full of them out of warranty. thanks in advance davy.

arfur mo Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 i've not used that many of them, about 30 or so over time, can't say i've ever had any problems. these days use gartec panels where VoCom is built-in or thr texecom unit, imo superb bit of kit if a tad more pricey. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
dunt Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 we have around 400 fitted, and its not nice when you have to hit the customer with a heafty bill for replacing a faulty unit
james.wilson Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Highlights a point though, how do you know it has failed? was it found on a service, by the client or did it not call someone when it should of? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Alarm Co Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 fitted a phew and the only problems i have had is when the customer has changed line over to broad band so put in line adsl filter all good again and the only problem with line was when a previouse engineer had fitted one and wire the phone line in alarm cable causing it to crackle re wired with solid cable no probs
dunt Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 i mainly find them faulty on routine annuel services, but the odd time we would get a call to say the alarm went off but didn't call anyone ? on the call-out its normally a faulty unit, with the same old problem faint display and faint tones/sounds also crashing totally on the test call. any system with broad band would have a hard wired ADSL filter fitted at annual service. i service full time between 35-45 services a week year in, year out, and on average replace 2 a month at this rate, granted not all systems have a dialer connected. when i break the bad news to the customer some times i get the impression that they think I'm trying to pull the wool over there eyes for a few extra quid, so its now time to try and find away to repair faulty units on the test bench.
TSS Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I've had some appear faulty when broadband has been fitted (switch over to pulse dialing) but if you disconnect them, and leave them for a while you can re connect with a filter , reprogram and most of them come back to life...
