Securit 700l

I've just moved into a new house and have a Securit 700L akarm system which works fine and for which I have the user manual. I'm redecorating and wish to move a PIR. I've tried unscrewing the front cover but this obviously set off the tamper alarm.

Does anyone know of a code that allows me to disable this alarm why I carry out the work.

Thanks,

Steve

Your user code will silence the tamper alarm, but to do what you want and disable the PIR would require you to have the engineer code for the alarm and also what your asking we can't really give out the answer on the forum as it's a task that would require an engineer, I'm not saying it's not possible it's just that we can't give out that kind of information.

It maybe possible to move the PIR without disturbing any of the wiring, in which case you won't need an engineer, by that I mean unscrew it from the wall without removing any of the wiring to the PIR. If your going to do this be very careful as there is power running to the PIR and you may render all the other PIR's and possibly your system useless if your not careful.

hi steve,

the siren sounds to warn somebody/thing has interfered with it, this means nobody can fiddle with it without the user code to silence it. suggesting the following is not breaking out rules as i see it because your not disconnecting or overcomming the protection.

do as you have already done and remove the lid

silence the alarm

for safety write down where each colour wire goes incase of disconnection before you move anything.

move the pir assuming the cable is long enough.

if not a good chance you might find slack cable has been pushed into the floor/ceiling above

if you need to shorten the cable thats the simple way to do it.

once done replace lid and enter your code to clear it.

if you operate the tamper switch the sirens will start again so don't panic or do this at in inconsiderate time.

if not serviced for a while treat it to one by an engineer, or at least fit a new battery but be careful as mains is available inside the main panel.

Get the wife to do it, that way if it goes wrong you can blame her. :P

Recently moved into new house and I was told the alarm code but I stupidly forgot to write it down.

I think I know what it is but am worried I set the alarm off by putting in the wrong code and I do not want to do that as I have a young baby in the house.

So my question is, when SETTING your alarm if you put it the wrong code will it start wailing or does it just warn you you have put in wrong code.

I know the alarm would sound if I put in wrong code when  entering the house but will it go off if you are trying to set it for exiting and you put the wrong code in?????

When was it last serviced?

Probably a good idea to have it checked over and a new battery installed, otherwise it may decide to do silly things on it's own.

If you don't know the code an engineer will be able to fix that for you and make sure the system is setup for your needs.

Well the reason I ask is we are heading away for a couple of days and I would feel happier with alarm on, I recon I know the code so im wondering if I put it in once and its wrong will that set the alarm off???

cheers for the help folks ;)
