s2000 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Hi Can you please give me some advice re my Accenta 8? Been in for some years now working fine, backup battery changed about 3 years ago together with a new external bell. Did a test recently and found that after triggering a detector and the system goes into an alarm condition the external and internal bells do not sound and the strobe does not flash, just silence. The panel indicates no condition until I have press the alarm code then it does indicate that there has been an historic alarm on the particular detector. I have carried out an engineering walk through test ok, all detectors work fine, tamper ok too. Bell sounds on external bell test and strobe works on strobe test. Internal sounder fine too. I did try a tamper alarm condition by opening the panel in normal mode, the internal sounder sounds on High Volume but once again no external bell (or garage sounder, see below) or strobe. It points to the bell being faulty but I have got a second internal sounder in the garage but wired in parallel with the external bell connections to the D & B bell terminals which has always rung fine. This to is not ringing in an alarm condition but does ring fine on a bell test. Am I possibly looking at a circuit board trigger condition problem? I hope someone is able to help me with my problem. S

Certaily not a faulty bell. The bell gets it's power from the same place whether you carry out a bell test or whether the alrm triggers due to a detector activating. If your bell were faulty it wouldn't sound during a bell test. As mentioned by another poster it could be that the panel is programmed for bell delay (Which means the alarm activates silently for a pre-determined period of time before the audibles sound) or it could be a faulty panel. s2000 Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Many thanks to both comments. I set the bell delay to 00 and now working correctly. Theres me thinking I had a faulty board or bell. Don't know how or when that could have changed but all working now. Many thanks S
