Guest anguscanplay Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 We have used loads of the online batts from enterprise without any problems. YET try the 2.1 version, it looks like all the rest, but will it fit - cheap batteries are just false economy
PJF Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I would love to see how they tested the battery. Top tip: if you ever catch fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because i bet thats what REALLY throws you into a panic and dont forget the one thing you cant recycle is wasted time.
satsuma01 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I would love to see how they tested the battery. like that probably. seriously tho the battery should be checked by a ACT Meter (battery load testing meter.) Chorlton Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 like that probably.seriously tho the battery should be checked by a ACT Meter (battery load testing meter.) and who checks the act meter? i find they only work right on yuasa batts
PJF Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Chorlton your right mate, I have my fluke multi calibrated, my drill chargers pat tested, my ladders and steps have a daft plastic tag, but my shiny black and gold batt tester has never had a calibration test. Hopefully ACT did one at time of manufacture but since then who's to say is correct. To be honest I wont loose any sleep over this, as long as a new batt is within the correct tolerances then thats good enough for me. I know its not the correct attitude and yes I do take load readings when commissioning a panel. I write the resulting Ma reading on the batt just to help the service guys with any future faults etc. Paul. antinode Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Had my ACT IBT calibrated a couple of months ago and the difference it made was quite astounding. Before calibration, it had been reading quite a bit on the pessimistic side. It's the closest we can get to a proper test though is'nt it. I still check charging volts/current and knock the mains off for a bit aswell as using the ACT tester... Trade Member
Lectrician Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I went into a screwfix branch recently, and the bloke next to me was having his order read back to him (sumilar to Argos). The screwfix chap said "ten two watt switches". I would hazard he meant two way! My mother in law also advertised her corsa in the local paper last year as "12 volt". It had a 12v badge on the back........meaning 12valve, as in 3 cylinder! Email : martin@askthetrades.co.uk

Alarm Protection Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Does anyone use the Genesis Batteries from Risco??? Had 2 last week that went duff and they have only been installed about 4 months. On both batts the cells were rattling about like battery had been installed for 15 years !
