knight3000 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Hi, We have just moved into a house with a Veritas R8 installed. Now this is a older version i know this because you have to press 00 to access the prog menu, 01 to change the user password and 08 to change the engineirs password. When i set the alarm all the zones are sealed. On the last beep of the exit delay it sounds the siren for about 8 seconds then the siren goes off but the alarm still remains armed is this normal? Also, i want to set the enty and exit delay timers of course its an old alarm and im struggling the get the engeniers manual. Regards Knight

FASTCAR Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 On the last beep of the exit delay it sounds the siren for about 8 seconds then the siren goes off but the alarm still remains armed is this normal? Thats not normal....if set as final door set , it should flash the strobe.
antinode Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Sounds as though someone has wired the bell trigger to the strobe trigger somewhere Or they have a Novagard with the set confirm input connected, which provides an audible sound on setting... Trade Member
Gopher Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Hmm antinode thinking the same a miss-wire easy to test if you can test the bell / strobe separately. Test bell you should hear noise if not check the wiring. Do remember that mains voltage is present in the control panel and that there is the potential for high voltages to be present in the bell box when you take the cover off. knight3000 Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 haha bingo the strob is going directly into the bell socket on the curcuit board? Now were getting somewere... its oviosly not wired up correctly, Now how to correct it lol
black knight Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 i'm sure the answer to that is obvious - if you found the bell connection then i,m sure you can find the strobe one. as already mentioned there are mains volts present in the control box please be careful (turn off the mains /pull the fuse out of the spur would be the preferred action. good luck Paul THE BLACK KNIGHT "Any comments / opinions posted are my opinion only and do not represent those of my employer or Company."
knight3000 Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 The siren & stobe is going into the same power connections in the bell box. Im going to try and take a photo ill repost of what the bell box looks like.
