Guest RJBsec Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Hi all,Can anyone recommend a dialler box for a guardtec 800. I would like to remotley arm and disarm the alarm, as well as being notified if the alarm is activated. ooky Being notified is easy, get a Gardtec dialler fitted - remote set/unset is another ballgame entirely.
james.wilson Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 It will work better with a panel designed to do this, ie wisdom / powermax etc. But you could use a diallers relay output to arm / disarm the system but then you wouldnt have feedback as to the state of the alarm. Not an ideal solution as you could disarm thinking it was disarmed when in fact it was armed. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Gopher Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 There are dial-in system out there that allow you to switch on/off mains operated items so it should be possible to find something like that, that is for low power / voltage free (wired as a "keyswitch"). The one we've used in the past once it's accepted the security code and we've put in what we want to do, it beeps once for on and twice for off so we know the status of it. Intruder / CCTV / Access Control Technical Support Personal Subscriber to the "K.I.S.S" principle, that's Keep It Simple Stupid, are you?
james.wilson Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 agreed, assuming the only control is via that i/f, but if the alarm was armed via the keypad... and then you select on frm the dialler what happens then? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
ooky Posted June 16, 2008 Author Posted June 16, 2008 Thankyou for your feedback. Sounds like its not particually simple then? I suppose notification of the alarm sounding is the most important aspect. Ooky
james.wilson Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Oh its doable and its simple really but its needs caution as long as your aware then fine. Personally id say chnage your panel to one designed for the job. There are panels now with built in web servers as well so there are various options securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
ooky Posted June 16, 2008 Author Posted June 16, 2008 Ooo web servers, I like the sound of that, would a new panel work with my existing sensors and keypads etc? Can you recomend a specific model for the new panel? Ooky
james.wilson Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 They arnt on general sale, and are only availbe through authorised dealers. Honeywell have a module coming for their equipment so you could be future proof with one of those, Visonic have a module but again thats only through autorised dealers. Unless anyone else knows of a panel on general sale with this feature.
