Programming Bosch Abacus Evolution

I'm sorry but this won't be a brief question.... My Abacus Panel uses proximity tags to set and unset the system. I find this feature very convenient. It also has a feature called 'Intelligent Setting'. I would like to use this, but I think the manual is missing something out....

'Intelligent Setting' is used to part set the system when the user exits through a nominated zone. I would like to use this, to set only the downstairs sensors when I go to bed at night. The manual says that this is acheived by enabling 'Intelligent Setting' in the panel and then nominating a zone which will cause the system to part set if that zone it is triggered during the exit time. So i've put a PIR on my staircase and nominated this as the 'Intelligent' zone.

If I then present my tag to the control panel and walk upstairs, I would expect the system to part set. Instead, as soon as the PIR triggers, the panel gives a 'Bad Set' warning and if I don't get back and disarm the panel quickly it will sound the alarm.

The manual doesn't say how the zone should be configured. At first I had it set as a standard intruder zone. This is what gave the above error. I tried it as a Final Exit zone, but then it fully arms the system.

Can anyone give me any pointers please?

There's nobody come back and answered this yet. So i'll throw in a couple more thoughts and see if anyone can suggest something...

One of the features about this panel is that if a proximity tag is configured to set just one area, then when the tag is presented that area is immediately set with any further ado. However, if the tag is able to set more than one area then the display prompts with the first area and requires the user to press 'Yes' if that is the correct area to set. So for simplicity I had my tags only able to set area 'A'.

However when an intelligent set takes place, area 'B' is set. So I was wondering if the tag needs to have permission to set area 'B' in order to do an intelligent set. Anyway I enabled areas 'A' and 'B' on a tag. But it didn't make any difference when I tried it. I still can't figure out how to make my system do an intelligent set.

I havnt used a new euro for some time, but i thought you had to make the intelligent zone the final door, thus causing a full set. I thought intelligent defaulted to part set unless you left.

But like i said its been 4-5 yrs since i have worked euros daily.

check you manual its pretty descriptive

What's a euro? This panel is the Bosch Abacus Evolution. I would also disagree that the manual is pretty descriptive. This is the sum total of what it says about this:

"Setting the system in pattern 'A' will commence 'Intelligent setting' of the whole system, with the exit tone at the 'Intelligent' volume level. Activatiing the nominated zone during exit time will cause the system to switch to and set pattern 'B'

Nowhere does the manual say how the intelligent zone should be configured. I don't know whether to set it as an Intruder zone or Final Exit or whatever.

that makes sense - its similar to how the Risco panels do it

The Bosch is a Castle Caretech Panel with a different keypad (and better looking  )

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

I just took a look at the Castle Caretech webiste. I can the similarities. The case and power supply are identical. The boards are vaguely similar, but none that I could see have the same layout as my Abacus. So this is useful information. I would like to know if Castle Caretech have made a special board for Bosch, or if the the Abacus is a clone of an existing Castle Caretech board. And who wrote the firmware?

Obviously, if Castle Caretech wrote the firmware, then I might be able to get some better documentation.

Edit:

I've been trying to get hold of someone at Bosch to get some help on this. Their product manager just gave me a call and during the conversation he confirmed that it's a Castle Caretech panel and that they also wrote the firmware.

Yours will be the 6 zone versions, the Castle panels have been updated to 8 zones which is why there are some differences :-|

Yes this is the 6 zone version. I have used these zones up already. I believe that I can add another 8 zones to this panel. But this is where the documentation lets me down again. I don't know what item to buy. i don't know if it sits in the same box or how it connects to the main board.
