I was still out, got about an hour of sleep, now waiting for the pager to beep anoyingly again...

Lets see what tonight brings....

I missed all the fun last night. I had only a single callout and that was just after 5pm yesterday. I do hope for calls after midnight though due to the 'sleep-in' that I get in the morning.

The call I had was a faulty Texecom Premier LCDL keypad that for some reason would display corrupt text every now and then. Sometimes, upon entering a code, the text would not even change. giving the impression that the system had locked up. Unfortunately, due to me not carrying spares due to the range usually being trouble free and quite new, I had to drive back to base for replacements.

The worst thing about being on call is when nothing happens. Of course, I'd sooner have a night in but you tend to get nervy about doing anything. Refraining from watching a DVD or the TV. It does seem that the moment you start something, the phone rings lol. Once you're out there though, it's great. I don't mind how many calls come in once I'm out and about.

From about 9pm last night, I kept checking my phone just to make sure it was OK. I tend to do that quite often when it's deadly quiet.

The only thing I let being on call stop me from doing is drinking!!

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

no calls yet! Gonna go cook some tea, that should start it ringing....

PS what does everyone else get paid for being on call?

I get £150 p/w

Hi Gaz, looking @ the past 6 months or so we are averaging around 1 call every 2-3 nights. :P

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
