HoofHearted Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I installed my Bosch Abacus about a month ago. I've been very pleased with it. It's been totally reliable so far. This morning I was sat eating my breakfast and the panel chimed just as the Bin Wagon was reversing past the house. This surprised me. My front and back doors are chime zones, but they were both closed and locked at the time. I rattled the doors and tried in vain to make the chime repeat. I couldn't do so unless I opened the doors at least two inches. I put the panel into diagnostic mode and waited for the Bin Wagon coming back out of the road. The idea being that in diagnostic mode, I can see the state of all the zones and should see something change state if it happened again. What happened next was surprising for two reasons. As the Bin Wagon came past the house, the panel chimed again. I was surprised that: 1) I didn't see any of the zones change state on the display. and 2) The chime sound is disabled whilst the panel is in diagnostic mode. So if it was a door sensor, I shouldn't have heard the chime anyway. So I really curious to know what I heard. The logs show nothing. I've come to work today having not set the alarm in case there is a fault. I have no garden and the panel is mounted on the inside of the wall next to the street. So it would have been no more than 10ft from the passing Bin Wagon. Ian
james.wilson Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 if it does it every time the bin wagon comes past, id power it down and see if it stops. Id say it wasnt your alarm. you 100% there is nothing in ANY log. Also if its the same as the castle, turn special log on every zone that way it will log when unset every actiation. I was stood right next to it when it happened the second time. Both the keypad and the panel make a noise. It's quite distinctive. I haven't seen anything about special logs, but I'll take another look at the setup. Ian

I couldn't find a way to make it log the chimes. It hasn't chimed since this morning unless one of the outer doors was opened. Can I ask if something is possible.... The panel is set for a 400ms delay before a zone can trigger an alarm. But does this delay apply to the chime zones also? If not, I wonder if the vibration could have caused the reed switch to oscilate and cause the chime. The bin wagon passes very close to my front door.
